Our local translator, Ohmar. He really enjoyed working with us and liked all the the work we did in trying to improve his neighborhood. On the days when we were prevented from going out, due to security reasons, Ohmar would go out on his own and work on some of our projects. He used my GPS to mark all of the large rubble and trash piles in our district. These locations were later cleaned up by OCPA. He has a wife and two daughters. He was an Iraqi soldier during the first Gulf War and faught in Kuwait. He liked to tell us about his service in Kuwait where his unit was assigned to guard a large radio tower. "The Americans tried to bomb it everyday. We all said 'Praise Allah' when the Americans finally hit the tower."
