| Mary Cox is among a small but dedicated group of tradesman known as farriers who specialize in the health and grooming of horses hooves. She has been going to school learning about the trade of a the farrier while working another full-time job, hoping that her job as a farrier will soon be her primary source of income given her love of horses. She says she thinks because she is a woman, people will tend to scoff at her for doing what has primarily been a man's job, but she quickly proves she has what it takes, not only providing a good cleaning, but also perfecting more experienced techniques such as the Mustang Roll, and bringing what she says is a feminine touch to the job, which her clients have come to regard as important as they understand the relationship horses develop with the people who tend to them. Owners who tend meticulously to their horses health usually have a farrier come visit at least wonce a month if not every two weeks to ensure the easy pasture life is not softening ahorses foot, whereas wild horses have their hooves naturally tended to by the rough ground they ride along. Pasture horses require the hoof maintance normally tended to by a horses' natural habitat in the wild. |
