On December 18, 2004 throngs of people came to celebrate the completion of the entire neighborhood of houses and in particular Lillian Dunk's house, which for many who were involved in the process of volunteering and even those who were not, a sense of community was formed from the very inception of the first day the group of houses on Pine St. in Greensboro, NC could be called a community. Their was gospel singing, emotional speechs, blaring music, and barbecues. People wandered freely from house to house looking at the completion of the insides of what was now a brand new set of houses for a brand new set of lifes for people who seemed to feel overwhelmed to the point of having become brand new people on this day of celebration; not only from the building of houses, but of the greater purpose of the building and binding the people of a community together, young and old, rich and poor, and of all races, creeds, and origins. The people came together as one.
